Bunny D didnt make it :(
So It was only a matter of time but I heave bad news to bare. Bunny D has passed away
. I noticed earlier that he had started to take a turn for the worse as I reported in the last post but Bunny D did not recover. At about 7pm I went to feed the rabbits again only to find that Bunny D was well separated from the rest in the nest and they appeared to have turned their back on It. I tried again to give him some milk with the pipette but he was really cold again and was not interested in the milk. My mum suggested we wrap a hot water bottle in some sheets and try placing him on it to warm him up, agreed and she went off to fill the hot water bottle. While she was gone the bunny began to cough and squeak a little, this soon passed and we placed Bunny D onto the sheet on the warm hot water bottle. This appeared to really comfort the bunny and I was now coming to terms with the fact that he was very unlikely to recover and I thought having spent his last night in the cold with no-one around him It would be nice for It to pass away in a warm bed with people around him showing him some love and affection. after about half an hour or so in the blanked he started to move quite a lot squirming around and coughing a lot more struggling for breath, this came and passed for over an hour, which was quite distressing to watch at times but Bunny D hung in there now trying to feed a little but he did not appear to have the energy anymore. Finally after settling down and gently falling asleep in my mums arms in a blanket he made one last attempt at sucking the pipette before he took his last breath.Quite an upsetting an emotional night for all concerned with my mum her friend me and Sara all in the room there were a few tears shed but we remain optimistic for the others. I quickly dug a large hole in the garden and we Lay Bunny D to rest one final time in a cute little box of my mothers filled with straw.
Anyway moving on to the others to cheer myself up a little Bunny C has improved no end now fighting for the milk as soon has he realises it is around. Bunny’s B and F are as strong as ever both growing quite a considerable rate. Bunny A and E are both making fair progress not eating as much as the other but still have quite a bit of energy, The are a little skinnier than the other 3 but I still have faith they will survive.
I’m afraid there’s no more pictures or video’s to share from today since I was alone with them most of the day and so could not take photo’s of them when they were awake and feeding (I had my hands full) and when Sara came home things had got a little touch and go with Bunny D so we decided it was a little inappropriate to take any shots. Hopefully if all goes well I might get a few pictures tomorrow.
Made a couple of changes to the Blog Itself, renamed It Bunny Watch since this story has now become the focus of the blog for the time being and because its also consuming most of my life at the moment and so no time to be blogging anything else. I’ve also added a shout-box to the main page of the blog so you can leave a quick comment.
Thanks as always for visiting and may your thoughs be with Bunny D this evening may It rest in peace…
